When the pandemic first started, I felt gaslighted.

Suddenly our society acted as though it was one that valued life and was willing to go to great lengths to preserve it, when for years we wouldn't lift a finger to prevent avoidable deaths (healthcare, homelessness, cars, etc.)
And then very quickly, COVID became politicized, and the feeling of being gaslighted went away because at least people & politicians were honest about letting others die because they didn't want to be inconvenienced.
Let's be honest about ourselves and all the ways in which we allow others to suffer and die preventable deaths. And then let's commit to change.

House the homeless, provide healthcare, dismantle white supremacy, end traffic violence, wear masks, etc.
There are still a lot of people who ardently support major societal disruption in order to save people from COVID, but oppose changes that will save lives from other types of harm.

It's popular to say "wear a damn mask", but how else can you seek change to help others?
