I often think about this article when discussing SPD.

Back in 2018 Iosia Faletogo was chased by 6 officers, tackled, and shot point blank in the head as he was restrained while complying with their orders.

This article was published 3 days after the incident.
It took them 21 seconds to shoot him. Other officers immediate reaction to say they would have shot him sooner is unacceptable. There is no reforming this.

Lethal force should be the very last resort, yet it is often SPD’s initial reaction.
This shooting was justified by OPA and was found to fall within SPD guidelines. How is holding someone down and shooting them in the back of the head — executing them — policy? How the fuck is that acceptable? It’s not.
