I like to say there are two kinds of people in the world -

Mouth breathers:

Nose breathers:
You’re probably thinking

“I breathe everyday. I know what I’m doing.”

Hate to break it to you (not really)
But you’re probably a mouth breather if any of the below are true.

You:

* Snore

* Wake up with dry mouth

* Are nasally congested

* Often get dizzy, tired, or lightheaded
Mouth breathing puts unnecessary strain on the body while delivering less oxygen to vital organs and muscles.

This decreases your standard of living, quality of life, your physical performance and ability to lose body fat.
Mouth breathing also leads to a lack of nitric oxide production in the sinuses.

Why should you care about nitric oxide?
Nitric oxide is a vasodilator, meaning it relaxes the inner muscles of your blood vessels and causes them to widen

This results in increased blood flow & lower blood pressure
Fun fact:

Viagra artificially harnesses the nitric oxide pathway to promote enhanced blood flow, at the expense of your long-term vitality
Increased blood flow = increased thought patterns

Studies have even shown higher IQ tests in nose breathers as opposed to mouth breathers.
So how does deep, diaphragmatic nasal breathing help with weight loss?

It’s a common belief that most fat is excreted through bodily fluids

But the majority of fat turns into carbon dioxide and is exhaled through breath.
Fats are molecules consisting of oxygen, carbon and hydrogen.

When we breathe through our nose, the oxygen we inhale reaches the fat, and breaks it down into carbon dioxide and water.

The blood then carries the carbon dioxide to the lungs to be exhaled.
Proper breathing also stimulates the vagus nerve - strengthening the parts of the brain that regulate emotions - and leading to better food choices and a multitude of other benefits.
The bottom line is: DON'T BE A MOUTH BREATHER

- Fat loss starts with nasal breathing

- Better performance starts with nasal breathing

- & superior health undoubtedly starts with nasal breathing
