THREAD Yes, YOU can do something. In addition to VOTING, you can register others to vote.

"People keep telling me they are frustrated and ask, 'what can I do'? I say organize, get registered and vote like you've never voted before."

Most of these rules apply for all states. I will focus on Maryland, where I live and have registered over 300 voters in the past two years. First, go to your County's Board of Elections. You will have to call and make an appointment with the voting registrar.
2/After you take your course, you will be given a letter certifying you are a volunteer voting registrar, blank registration applications, and blank absentee voter ballot applications. The course takes about an hour or less.
3/I am also a Poll Judge. This course, which takes about two hours, is more involved. As a poll judge, you will verify the results of an election, handle voter inquiries, ensure the site is within regulations, and ensure the chain of command of ballots.
4/In Prince George's County, MD, poll judges get paid about $200 for two days, with hours from 5:00AM until 11:00 PM. It's a long day. COVID-19 has prevented me from doing so this time, unfortunately.
5/I received permission from a local strip mall to set up my booth. In addition to registration forms + absentee ballot applications, I also made a poster with deadlines of registration and elections. I also have a sample ballot with issues and candidates.
6/I have a steady site and regular hours, usually Saturdays between 1-4. As a volunteer voting registrar, I cannot endorse one party over the other. My goal is to get people registered, and to educate people about the ballot.
7/My secondary goal is to EDUCATE people about the ballot. You will be amazed at the number of people who are unaware of an election this fall, what are the issues being considered, when are the deadlines, and even what's the difference between a Democrat and Republican.
8/This cycle, my emphasis will be getting people to send in their absentee ballot applications IMMEDIATELY, and once they get them, either put them in a drop box, bring them to the Board of Elections, or mail them the same day.
9/In Greenbelt, MD, you can join our registration and absentee ballot drive. It will be every Saturday, September 12-October 24, 2020 between 1PM-4PM, at Giant and Beltway Plaza, the Co-Op and Schrom Hills Park. Send an email to GreenbeltVotes2020@gmail.com
10/If I can do it, I know you can, too. Even if you don't set up a booth like me? Always carry a few voter registration forms with you. I've registered voters waiting in line for fast food. At churches, barbershops and hair salons.

Yes, it's that important.
