A THREAD on black boys in private schools being sellouts:
Step 1: We have acknowledged white people are racist and are the cause of systemic + systematic racism that still thrives today in institutions. Now let’s focus on SELF HATE.
Step 2: I am guilty of these actions and I will admit my crimes along the way because I feel accountability is the way forward.
Step 3: If you’re offended, then this is probably to & for you :)
1. “I would never go for a black girl” - I came across this phrase multiple times in grade 8/9. Never sat well with me. This was mainly from the black boys deeply within the white group. This is a white boy mentality but black boys preached it lol.
2. “Black girls smell/taste like mogodu”. - This one was very trendy last year and seen as something that was funny. This is degrading not only for black women but also to your own race. Smells like SELF HATE to me but idk.
3. “Indian girls smell/taste like curry”. - Being racist to Indian people has been normalised. Black boys didn’t necessarily start this however as a black boy myself I must say it is disappointing for the oppressed to perpetuate more oppression/stigmatisation unto others.
4. Snow bunnies. - This phrase is all fun and games until you call white girls snow bunnies and black girls mogodu, smelly, ratchet & “the streets”.
5. White Woman
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🏆" title="Trophäe" aria-label="Emoji: Trophäe">. - From Grade 8-10 it was a common trend find the achievement in dating a white girl/taking a white girl to your matric dance as a symbol of status. With Black women it was just... meh.
6. Vanilla Killer. - Yo this one neh? Must I even dive in deeper? Being a vanilla killer made you the shit in high school & black boys celebrated it.
7. “Jungle Fever”. - Letting this phrase being thrown around was not it. I’m 100% guilty of this, only realised it was problematic in grade 10.
8. A mid 6/10 white girl was seen as hot when a black girl would literally have to be a model to be seen as attractive.
9. Darksin black women were shown no love or attention whatsoever. I am guilty of this as I “preferred lightskin women”.
10. Coconut/‘white’ black guy. - I struggled with this one. Not being able to speak vernac was not fun. Getting high English marks wasn’t fun. Having a diverse friend group wasn’t fun. Having a different accent wasn’t fun. Trust me when I say. I DO NOT WANT TO BE WHITE.
11. WHITE GIRL WEDNESDAY. - Remember when black guys just now were busy posting “White girl Wednesday”? Haha lol weird right? Then later “Melanin Monday” was added amidst the current climate? Must be a coincidence...
12. @ My high school. There was a tradition where the DARKEST GUY in the school is called out & compared to a BLACK SCHOOL SHOE in front of the WHOLE SCHOOL. I spoke out against it on our matric gc but guess which guys told me “It’s not that deep” & that I was trying to hard?

11. Black women fought the struggle for their gender and their race & so much more... they fought for us. What did black guys in private schools do? Call them mogodu and romanticise white girls.
Why am I part of the issue? I was quiet and did nothing about it. I felt the popular kids always shut me down and trolled me for being “Too woke” & “Trying too hard”. But I shouldn’t have cared. I sold us out by not doing anything & I’m here to try fix my wrongs.
Black people shine!

This does not apply to “All” black boys in private schools but if you’re angry at this, then it applies to you. At the end of the day, “Some” Men are Trash just doesn’t hit it the same. Self hate breeds in my generation. We need to dismantle it immediately
