so many people (including me!) in highschool tech twitter are graduating hs in this cursed year of 2020.
it really makes you feel like you *know* what everyone& #39;s going through because of this huge shared experience of COVID that we’re in even though we only know about each other through twitter :p
it’s amazing how so many people literally from across the world from places like california, canada, austria, germany, israel, the netherlands, india, singapore, and more have found their way across the huge expanse of the internet to this one small corner of the web
I also feel like in the last year or so the number of hs tech people on twitter has really exploded and grown a lot really fast which has been amazing to see
i (and i think many of you too) just came across our small twitter community by chance.
maybe you had just joined twitter and tweeted about a project that you were working on thinking that no one would see it. you close your phone and put it away for now.
to your surprise someone you don’t even know has left a like on your tweet.

you click on their bio and see that they too tweet about cool projects that they work on.
you follow them and soon you see that your newfound twitter friend is liking and retweeting other people that are working on cool things

you follow them too and go through the lists of people that *they* follow and find a lot more.
you’ve made your way to our little corner of the internet, welcome :)

finding hs tech twitter is hard. twitter is home to an unimaginable number of communities and each has many smaller communities focused on a particular topic. most people can say they belong to more than just one or two.
twitter doesn’t make it easy to find “your people” as @thesephist put it.
this isn’t like reddit or discord or a discussion forum for a particular product or software where you can search for it and join

there are no applications, no mods, no admins, no comments of “this is off-topic, it doesn’t belong here”.
just the implicit expectation that you are a kind person.

there’s a lot more that i want to say but this thread is getting a lot longer and rambly than i thought, so i& #39;ll end it with this for now :)
being able to be here and experience the founding* and growth of this community was one of the (many) things that i& #39;ll remember about 2020
