There's a group of leftists on twitter who just use leftist causes as a vessel for sociopathic behavior. They exploit issues like Single Payer to simultaneously claim the moral high ground while also working out their racism & misogyny, not to mention their violent fantasies.

I would hazard a guess that many of the non-MA people on here who have suddenly become DEEPLY invested in the Senate race had no idea who Ed Markey was until recently. Yet they're using this race to not only signal their "deeply-held" values, but also to make assassination jokes

I personally think both men seem fine. It's interesting to me that some of the folks who are *violently* advocating for Markey would use Markey's past positions as a political bludgeon against anyone else (Iraq War; Crime Bill).

But, in any case, it seems like Bernie's lost now & is personally all in favor of unity, so this little online army needs to direct their amorphous rage to some other cause they only recently learned about: the MA Senate race.

The thing is? They're not helping Markey.

If any of these bozos actually cared about Markey, they would stop. If they cared about Single Payer, they would stop. They did more harm to Bernie than good. They don't get to claim the moral high ground anymore. They're not advancing anything they claim to care about.

All they do is harm. They individually harm the politicians they don't like & politically harm the politicians they purport to like. They have done absolutely zero to help people understand or accept Single Payer.

Political Twitter is just the vehicle for their unresolved rage.

In any case, as I have said before: if you are a progressive because you believe the causes you advocate for are compassionate, you have to match your methods to these causes. You have to be compassionate. Otherwise you're just burning everything down.

&, for the record, I don't care what happens in the MA Senate race. I know people who like Kennedy & people who like Markey. Both seem like fine men (tho Markey should get control over this situation). I don't think the violent Markey backers care either. They just want a vessel
