Kyle Schwarber HR (5). 1-2, 85mph SL.
Hands rhythm in early, but notice foot comes up with hand brake. The early hand move doesn't change body posture or alignment all that much. Early rhythms are only as good as the control of them and how they coordinate.
The hand rhythm stands out, but behind that is the stability of the rest of the body. The closed up stance has reduced the inward turn of the shoulders and gave him more control to utilize this relaxed rhythm. Less going on.
The pelvis is controlled and stable under him. Ultimately a good spot to hit from and adjust. Start time is important, more important is the control of your time. He has control and has built-in time to do whatever the pitch tells him to do.
A lot going here, but I think at this point, hitters hit. The body is allowed to do what it does. He swung over the top of the previous pitch (SL). He made sure not to do that here. Adjustment becomes more of softer, direction through the spin.
One key, from this view, is there is no need for the back elbow to work back (goes up, but doesn't stick out behind him) to counter his balance. A good indication he's making a good clean move. The rhythm coordinates or syncs up as a benefit. It all starts with a good first move.
Solo HR from today
GS from today.
Cleaner lines, saves you time... 95 mph in. Easy out front. The body is free to do what the pitch tells it to do.
This will start to look different. Pelvis stays under with later and smaller dissociation that doesn't cost the hitter. When, how, and from what position this happens matters. This cleans up with better previous moves. This being forced can be costly when out of context.
