Dear Young Person

We live in a time where Social Media is full of success stories of people in our Generation making big moves.

It's worth celebrating.

But at the same time, it creates an illusion of success especially for young people still trying to find their place.

1/?
Understand this

You're in your late teens, early 20's

It's okay to not have shit figured out.
It's perfectly okay.

And don't take this to mean I'm encouraging unseriouness or a nonchallant view on life.
I am just being frank here.

2/?
Don't let Social Media and LinkedIn confuse you into thinking there's something wrong with you because you're not the CEO of some Tech Startup or you're not a famous musician, or you're not bagging multiple online certifications and degrees.

There's nothing wrong with you.

3/?
It's good to have dreams and a vision. Infact it's healthy. And if you're accomplishing them early in your life and quickly at that, it's wonderful and I'm happy for you.

I mean, it's exciting to see young people doing big and wonderful things in the world.

4/?
But the problem arises when you begin comparing yourself with other people who you think are seemingly doing better than you, you're honestly going to burn yourself out.

The only person you should be in competition with is yourself.
And that's the gospel truth

5/?
Like I said, I'm not asking you to be unserious and unnecessarily laid back.

Always make sure to put in the time, put in the effort and always try to be a better version of yourself each new day.

There's a wide difference between unseriouness and intentional growth.

6/?
But regardless, still celebrate your little wins.
Don't be clouded by what constitutes as "success" in our world today.

Just do you and have fun doing it.

Celebrate your little achievements and the daily goals you accomplish.
It'll help you see yourself in a better light.

7/?
And never forget this.

You're a success just by living and making the conscious effort to grow.

You don't have to be the next Zuckerberg to finally consider yourself a success.

Divert all that attention on simply being the best YOU.

Everything else will fall in place.
