Wow, it's almost like as children shift identities into adulthood they need guidance and reassurance. Peer culture has a place, but one that's not the whole of life and is far better integrated into adult society (ie not 8 years of quarantine) https://twitter.com/wrathofgnon/status/1297924270333427712
Mental health is going to keep worsening, and the stats will get worse at an increased rate because the top soil is gone. It's dried up and there's nothing left to cover the difference. And so things are going to have to change.
-It should be illegal for any social media site to have members under the age of 18
-No student should be in a classroom with more than 12-15 students
-Support should shift to vocational schools; credentialism and accreditation agencies must be broken
-We should give tax breaks to families who use another family member for childcare, supporting the nuclear and extended family
-Parents should have greater telework options in order to facilitate children's mental health. They need their parents.
-Walkable neighborhoods. Wild forest schools. Whatever we have to do to make it happen we need to do. We spend trillions of dollars to put machines in space but can't be bothered to help kids spend some time in the woods.
