1. Hypersensitive senses ! when someone’s having a panic it’s more than likely all they’re senses heighten at once. please ask them if they’d like you to talk or sit in silence with them because even the sound of someone’s voice could be extremely overwhelming to the person
2.Temperature ! getting the person something cold to hold in they’re hands automatically cools down the rest of the body helping to slow down sweats and tremors to the body
3. Offer your hand ! trust me having something whether it’s a cold water bottle or someone’s hand can make such a difference as the body will feel more grounded holding a physical object
4.Don’t presume you know what to do because the person isn’t running about crying breathing heavy ! Sometimes panic attacks look silent to someone on the outside so please just listen to what the person is saying as they will know what’s best for them
5.If someone tells you they feel sick or unwell don’t just presume this is purely physical - a lot of people would rather not openly admit its anxiety they are feeling so be mindful there could be a root mentally to how they are feeling physically !
