Dear @Verizon, recently while bored I started playing @CoinMasterGame which came preloaded on my @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy phone. I was pretty shocked to be unexpectedly confronted with racist caricature in the course of game play.
The simple game involves building themed villages, by earning or attacking other villages for coins. See below for an example of a village to raid and an attack. When you attack a village, you usually attack monuments, and occasionally animals. @Verizon @CoinMasterGame
While I am only on level 6, so far the themes of the cartoon villages played upon stereotypes, but at no point has there been any other actual humans depicted as living in the villages. @Verizon @CoinMasterGame
So I was shocked, disturbed, and deeply uncomfortable when I was asked by the game to attack this "African" themed village and one of the targets it wanted me to attack was this offensive caricature of an African villager. @Verizon @CoinMasterGame
In no other instances have I been prompted to attack a human, especially one with exaggerated racist stereotypes. I was even more shocked to learn that people like @terrycrews, @Jlo and @chrisbharrison had advertised a game with such racist imagery. @Verizon @CoinMasterGame
It is deeply disappointing to have encountered this already preloaded on my phone, especially from a brand who recently claimed in support of Black Lives Matter that their purpose was to “move the world forward” and boycotted Facebook ads in support @Verizon @CoinMasterGame
I highly encourage you to push for the removal of this racist depiction from the game, or @coinmastergame from your platform. Black Lives Matter, and not just when you& #39;re using the slogan for social media. Sincerely, a loyal customer of 20 years. @Verizon #blacklivesmatter
