Ladies, have you ever gone for a PAP SMEAR? If not, what's stopping you?

If you don't know what a Pap Smear is, don't worry I got you.

A Pap smear is done to detect abnormal cervical changes that may suggest that cancer is likely to develop or that cancer has already developed.

Cervical cancer is deadly & it kills ruthlessly.
Early identification and treatment of developing cancer is possible before it has a chance to spread beyond the cervix.

The current guidelines are to have a pap smear every three years beginning at age 25.
After age 35, if you have never had an abnormal PAP, you can increase that to 5 years.

So, it's best to have a pap smear done every three years for women aged 25 to 65.
However, if you have ever been sexually active, you should get screened too. It is a very important test that could save your life and/or save you from much more invasive treatments.

This test discovers cervical cancer in its very early stages when it can be easily treated.
If you think the test is humiliating, imagine what it would be like to discover a late stage cervical cancer and getting that treated.

They have to access the same area, but instead of a quick swab you'll be receiving a lot of painful treatments.
Cervical cancer is caused by Human Papilloma Virus which is a mostly symptomless sexually transmitted infection that the vast majority of people carry.

That means that if you have ever had sex (and not only intercourse, any sexual activity), you have probably been exposed to it.
There is a vaccine available, but it doesn’t prevent all strains and if you get it after becoming sexually active it won’t protect against what you’ve already been exposed to.
Now that you have this information, what are you waiting for?

Find the nearest clinic or hospital and get your pap smear done!
