@elonmusk this is my mother she’s 58. She moved across the country in 2016 to take a job at GF1 as a QC2. She helped open the factory, signed the first model 3 battery pack out the door and has been your companies biggest advocate and cheerleader.
2 weeks ago she was fired from Tesla. Not only did she lose her job, she lost her ESPP which would have netted 30k this quarter. She lost all her invested RSUs which were all vesting this year her 4th with the company. Another 50k. And to top it all off. That was the money she
Was going to use for her home to retire in. Her first home she was about to buy at almost 60. Shes lost direction, hope for a brighter future and she’s lost confidence that she’s even capable of being useful at her age. She’s a great quality tech who spent her days and nights
Trying to better your company and instead of thanking her for that, her hard earned money was stolen from her 2 weeks before it would’ve been released. She tried to commit suicide last week. Any suggestions on how I can convince my mother that it’s worth living?
Btw, her “severance” was 1900.00. Wow! Not even enough to buy one share of your skyrocketing stock.
We’ve gotten a lot of questions regarding the the reason for the separation. HR did not give any clear reason or state any underlying incident that precipitated the firing. They just said “at this time, we feel separation is best and you are free to re-apply after 6 months.
Update* we’ve gone to see Counselors and we want to get her started on the outpatient program they have, however Tesla took her healthcare at the same time as they took her retirement. I’m seeing what I can do with my insurance to help but I’m sure most will come out of pocket.
After hearing from so many people and professionals who cover these issues, we can see that this was clearly associated with performance review avoidance.
In the meantime again if just like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support.
Thank you so much everyone. Just seeing that so many people care and can relate is helping to lift her spirits. Honestly I can’t thank you all enough.
