Well, I guess that's it, we'll just have to close up shop here at @HRMFireNews. https://twitter.com/hfxfire/status/1297901627475660800
Just kidding... no chance. People have asked what I think of this new @HRFE_Incidents account. A few thoughts:

I think it's a good, helpful development. I've said for a while now, HRFE needs to better prioritize communications. They should be commended for taking a step forward.
I've been aware this was coming. It'll help the work that I do here, and it improves public information overall. I also don't see it as a replacement for this page, more of an addition to it. As you can see, the information they're actually tweeting is limited/has no updates.
Other departments have had these types of things set up for a while now, and I think it is a good practice. In today's world, you're better off to be going with the flow of information than trying to swim against it.
Almost five years ago when I felt a need to start this page, HRFE was trying to swim against it. There was almost no public information out there about the fire department. The idea that they've recognized that public communication has value is a good thing.
The only thing that annoyed me is this wording "have you ever seen a fire truck and wondered where it was going?" Yes, in fact, people do wonder such things. That's why all the chiefs and 50+% of the firefighters at HRFE follow @hrmfirenews, thanks. Lol https://twitter.com/hfxfire/status/1297901627475660800
Anyway, it's a good thing overall and it'll save me some time in Google Maps and on street atlases now that the street name/general location of calls comes out automatically.
