Oretha Castle Haley (1939-1987) was a vital leader of the civil rights movement in New Orleans.

In 1960 she became a founding member of the New Orleans chapter of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) & served as president of the chapter from 1961 through 1964.
Milan Nicole Sherry is the co-director of House of Tulip, a non-profit collective creating housing solutions for TGNC people. In direct response to killings of Black transgender women, Sherry created the #BlackTransLivesMatter campaign & founded NOLA’s Trans March of Resilience.
S. Mandisa Moore–O'Neal is a Black feminist & founder of The Moore-O'Neal Law Group, LLC., a Black feminist law & policy practice. She is the co-chair of the Black Youth Project100-New Orleans’ chapter.
Maha Chielo ( @spookyshabazz) is a sex worker, writer, and organizer from New Orleans. She is a founding member of B.A.R.E. (Bourbon Alliance of Responsible Entertainers) which fights against discriminatory laws affecting sex workers.
Nalo A.K. Zidan is a Queer Black writer, organizer, and Trans-Masculinist. They are the Founder & Creative Director of Black Girl Masculine ( @BlkGrlMasculine), a non-profit & media space for Queer, Black masculine-identified women, Trans and Non-Binary people.
Andrea Fullington is the founder of Blk Teacher Griot ( @blkteachergriot), which creates supportive spaces for radical Black educators struggling in New Orleans' oppressive educational system.
