What Manchester United need to do to begin competing with the top European clubs again.

A Thread:

One of the first and very obvious problems with Manchester United’s squad is depth.

We do not have enough back-up in a handful of positions, these include:
DM
LB
RW
ST
AM
CB

As you can see slot of areas need improving, and I will talk about each position individually.

Starting with DM.

Our current main defensive mid, Nemanja Matic, is 32 years old, which clearly is a problem in the long run.

Scott mctominay is a back-up, however he lacks the quality atm to be a regular starter.

A few players worth investing in could be:
Rice
Ndidi

LB.

Luke shaw is our current starter, with Brandon Williams as a back-up.

Even tho shaw isn’t to old, is main problem is him being injury prone, and Williams isn’t at a good enough level to start and help us win titles.

Potential players to invest in:
Telles
Reguilon

RW.

This is a position that we have 0 top players in.

Mason greenwood has been playing here, however it isn’t his natural position, with dan James being our only actually winger, however he lacks quality.

Potentials signings:
Sancho ( our main target this window)
Brooks

ST.

Our current striker, Anthony marital, has had his best scoring season for the club, and performed admirably.

However, another player to bring more depth would be need, but isn’t a top priority, as if we sign a right winger mason greenwood could take this role.

AM.

This is another important signing.

When Bruno and Paul are taken off, there is no one left to find the key pass and create the chance, and leaves us playing lack lustre football.

potential backup players could be:
Grealish
VDB( can play an AM And a box to box role

CB.

Maguire and lindelof are the main two CB ole has stuck with this season, and have both done an okay Job,with a few mistakes here and there.

With smalling set to leave and tuanzebe being injury prone,it leaves bailly as the only backup.

Potential signings:
Upamcano
Torres

To bring all these players in would cost the club a lot of money, especially with the current market due to COVID-19.

Players that could leave the club are:
Smalling
Jones
Lingard
Dalot
Pereira
Mata

Allowing these players to go would supply us with more money for transfers.

However, the likeliness of any of the deals I’ve talked about happening are being held back.

This is due to the Glazers and Ed Woodward being unwilling to spend.

Without proper funding, the squad will underperform, ole will be blamed, and the rebuild will be slowed even more.

I also believe ole Gunnar Solskjær is capable of taking us back to the top, however he needs to be backed my the board or we won’t progress.
