1/ I was prepared to let articles like this pass a month ago. Now, I think it& #39;s actively bad faith to be portraying parents& #39; concerns about re-opening as simply "will my kid get sick or not". https://theline.substack.com/p/matt-strauss-schools-will-be-safer?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&utm_source=twitter">https://theline.substack.com/p/matt-st...
2/ For some it is about that, sure. For more it is about not knowing what schools& #39; plans are for dealing with classrooms or schools where COVID cases have been reported. What will be the thresholds for suspensions? At what point will parents have to give up jobs again?
3/ Or worse, what if students in crowded classrooms become asymptomatic carriers and trigger a larger second wave, as they did in Israel? I don;t have to be worried about my daughter& #39;s susceptibility to COVID to think we& #39;re all fucked if school re-openings lead to Lockdown 2.0
4/ And yet this article, like so many others like it approvingly RTd by provincial officials desperate to avoid blame for having spent the summer with their thumbs up their behinds, recognizes none of this. None whatsoever. Which is precisely why it& #39;s bad faith.
