Kenosha’s been trash. We know being black in that city has been terrible. Y’all remember Lincoln Park. Every time we had a function dozens of police officers over policing us just playin ball. Y’all know middle schools links Lincoln, Bullen, Washington, McKinley -
Having some of the poorest , low performing students in the city, while places like Mahone and Lance got more resources? And let’s not get started on the elementary schools. All the resources that went to the subdivisions and Pleasant Prairie, while downtown was a cesspool...
Y’all on here cappin like y’all don’t know WHY nobody reps Kenosha or comes back, because every black ball player that MADE IT out had to scrape tooth and nail and kiss ass to do so. Remember all those coaches that told y’all ball players you’re so good so you can keep playin
- For them and winning for them, but when you needed assistance they were nowhere to be found? Yea... THAT’S WHY.
I can’t tell you how many black boys and girls I knew growing up fell victim to the system because it was already set up against them. Young parents, drugs, crime, etc. All talented and smart and look? So don’t act like Kenosha is for you when it never was.
Remember Uptown Pick N Save? Left the community in a food desert but Moe Moes, Uptown Pantry, and Lincoln Store (or whatever it is now) , is still up and running feeding the community nothing but garbage.
Also to add, I grew up being educated in Kenosha from Pre-K to being a first-gen college graduate coming out of the south side of Kenosha. I will always acknowledge my privilege in relation to the kids I grew up with. I grew up receiving free lunch, lived on the same block, etc.
I’m now a working professional based in Chicago. I left Kenosha because I KNOW there is more to the world than the block I knew, but unfortunately, my brothers and sisters weren’t given that same outlook and opportunity. I left Kenosha because the jobs just don’t exist for us.
The Black and Latinx community are continuously deprived of adequate resources and if there are grassroots based organizations that support BIPOC prosperity based in Kenosha, feel free to @ them and I will donate what I can.

Thanks @cherryona_xo for the idea. 💙
I remember growing up with CYC being a sanctuary for some of us, with the Lincoln Park Community Center being present, Urban League having block parties and events for kids in the community, and am everything gone in a matter of my 25 years of life.
The community’s potential was suppressed by removing these resources and shifting them outward due to the nepotism and greeds that plagues Kenosha. Our alder-people don’t look like us and aren’t for us. Our police force doesn’t look like us and CLEARLY aren’t for us.
