Today, people at high risk for #Covid19 in #Sweden (18-67 years) can start applying for compensation, if they are not able to work from home: https://www.forsakringskassan.se/privatpers/coronaviruset-det-har-galler
This compensation will cover max. 90 days (1 July- 30 Sept).

Why did it take such a long time until this compensation/protection funding ( #smittskyddspenning) was available?
And who is actually considered to be at high risk for Covid-19 in #Sweden?
Let's take a closer look:

And who is actually considered to be at high risk for Covid-19 in #Sweden?
Let's take a closer look:
This graph shows the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Sweden (deaths per day). The x-axis covers March-August 2020. I added some boxes to indicate key dates.
People younger than 70 years, first got to know more about specific riskgroup definitions on April 17th when Socialstyrelsen published their first report draft. The report is not available on the website anymore, but here is a screenshot of the most important page

Also note, that in the first draft report (April 17th), it was mentioned that people living in the same household with people at high-risk shouldn't work outside their homes. Furthermore, pregnant women were mentioned.

On the 21st April, Socialstyrelsen published an additional document to clarify several issues, esp. that risk-group definitions cover only people at ages 18-67 (not kids!): https://www.socialstyrelsen.se/globalassets/sharepoint-dokument/dokument-webb/ovrigt/fortydligande-regeringsuppdrag-2020-03163-covid19.pdf
On June 1st, riskgroup definitions were finalized. Note that pregnancy is not mentioned anymore and the paragraph about household members was also removed:

On 25th June, the Swedish government made their decision:

Here, you can read more about how organisations, which advocate for people at higher risk, feel about the decision:
