People who've been trying to call each incident of violence "terrorism" over the past few years: time to reassess your advocacy.

Trump's agenda for a 2nd term includes, "Prosecute Drive-By Shootings as Acts of Domestic Terrorism" ( https://www.donaldjtrump.com/media/trump-campaign-announces-president-trumps-2nd-term-agenda-fighting-for-you). (1/8)
The terrorism frame has been used to subjugate #ArabAmericans & #AmericanMuslims for decades, including secret detention facilities, watchlists, ethnic & religious profiling, warrantless surveillance, & CVE programs. We must end such misguided policies. (2/8)
Yes, white supremacy is bad & is dangerous. But we don't need to call it "domestic terrorism" to emphasize how bad it is. Hate crime laws & powers are well-equipped to address the issue to the extent that law enforcement can ever really address such things. (3/8)
Hate crime laws were literally designed to emphasize the social disapproval of committing a crime motivated by racism and bigotry.

Labelling any racist violence "domestic terrorism," legitimizes all the pain caused to Arab American & American Muslim communities. (4/8)
One might think, 'but only brown ppl are called terrorists, & white ppl are just troubled individuals!'

So let's stop calling brown people terrorists. Because otherwise, instead of denouncing discriminatory government overreach, we reinforce it & build upon it. (5/8)
Arab Americans & American Muslims shouldn't be subject to the unconstitutional gov. overreach & systemic bigotry stemming from the "war on terror," & such policies should never be used as a model--in rhetoric or policy--for addressing any other group or concern, either. (8/8)
