im seeing a lot of people talking about how they feel about tlou2 this morning so im going to do this thing.
THREAD OF MY THOUGHTS ON TLOU2

first of all i would like to mention i saw the leaks of the game when they came out. i knew joel died, the weed scene, Dina was pregnant, and i knew about the theatre fight, i didn’t know about dina and ellie’s fight.

okay so ill start with joel’s death. i think joel’s death isn’t developed well and is a bit tacky. i believe it’s too graphic and i know what they were trying to do but it happens too soon. i care about joel (and i cried) og course but killing him in the first 2 hours gives no-

build up and just comes out of nowhere with no development for him. i think it would’ve been much better to switch it and have the player play as abby for the first half of the game but that’s another thread to get into. i just don’t feel like it’s earned (idk what word to use?)

i don’t think most of the characters are developed well. there are too many characters and none of the side characters have a great character arc. i love lev, dina, jesse ofc but they’re not developed well simply because there are too many things going on.

i make fun of owen and mel but i make fun for the reason that their character suck ass. owen could’ve been a good love interest for abby i really do believe that but he’s just there with the title of “love interest” but he doesn’t do anything as a character.

Mel isn’t a needed character. owen should’ve just been a nurse which would’ve gave him a closer relationship with abby’s dad and helped the plot. there is no reason to throw mel in there to keep abby and owen apart when Abby is the reason they broke up when they were young-

and joel’s death was already making them avoid each other. it would’ve been much more heart breaking to have a well developed character for owen have him and abby finally get together and then have ellie kill him and would’ve helped the arc of ellie losing herself sm better.

lmfao im going to get shit w this one. abby is the most well written character in the game imo. yeah ellie is my favorite but abby grows from this person everyone hates to one most people can sympathize with. shes a complete asshole at the start and grows into someone likable.

ellie’s... ellie’s story pisses me off her half of the story is boring and i found myself looking at the wall searching for the camera to make a face like im on the office at her actions.
