#BVB 2020/21 season on #FM20

let's try to emulate Favre's tactics and philosophy and see how dortmund will do this season. the goal is to win the tremble of course.

first thing I did was to hire someone with some football knowledge. René Marić will be responsible for tactic briefings, opposition scouting and everything that requires more than a angry shout. (sry #bmg bubble)

@ManUtd is still interested in #Sancho. What is wrong with them? I will ask Zorc to hold another press conference and repeat that he is not for sale anymore. He loves this shit.

We played a few friendlies and had a great time in Bad Ragaz. Meanwhile I have tested a few different tactics. Mostly we played a 4-3-3 but I am worried that it might be vulnerable defensively. #FM20

In the friendly game against Standard Lüttich Reyna and Bellingham started in central midfield. And they completely dominated the game: Bellingham scored a hat-trick and Reyna added two. Both of them scored absolute screamers #FM20

As this was the last friendly match, all our focus will be on the upcoming DFL Supercup against #FCBayern. To be honest I am really nervous. Quite in contrast to Flick who is just cold blooded. I will post the game tomorrow... #FM20

We did it! The first title of many! The game started really slow and both teams eyed each other for most of the first half. It didn't help that we tried to play in a 3-4-2-1 shape, which led to endless passing between our CBs and almost no chances. #BVB #FM20

Something had to change. So we switched to a 4-2-3-1 at halftime. Reus was subbed in for Witsel and played almost as a second striker, with Brandt and Can behind. We played much better in the second half.

Finally, a perfectly timed run by Reus led to the winning goal.

I didn't play much #FM20 last week because I moved to another city. However, I experimented with this formation and played a friendly against Atalanta where I let the young guys get some experience. We won 2:0 and guess what: Passlack scored a goal. #BVB

I also loaned out this guy, who looks very promising. #Reinier

and this young lad joined me from City. I guess he wanted to get some good youth football before he will hopefully break into our first team next summer. #BynoeGittens

Did anyone say Reus cannot play on the left wing? He absolutely dominated as an inverted winger in the DFB-Pokal match against Schweinfurt (3 goals and 3 assists). With Guerreiro on the left flank, Reus ist free to drift inside whenever he wants. #BVB #FM20

#FM20-Update: After the win against Schweinfurt in the DFB-Pokal Dortmund stuck with the 4-3-3 formation, which features Can as a Box-to-Box midfielder alongside Brandt who is more of a playmaker.

The game against Mainz started very good. We were up 2:0 after goals from Sancho and Reus. But in the second half we struggled to control the lead and two absolute blunders by Akanji helped Mainz to come back and equalize. Should we get another CB?

A few days later our second game against Freiburg ended in a scoreless draw. Bellingham had a terrible game in front of the goal, but so did everyone. It wasn't meant to be and there was already tension and disappointment from some fans in the stadium after the game.

We had a hard time in our first two games and the pundits were already writing me off. But we trusted our philosophy and didn't change much in terms of tactics. The only change was that we allowed Brandt more freedom offensively and told Can to cover for him. #BVB

This change worked wonders. Young Favre at it again! We went on a 5 game winning streak while facing tough opposition. After beating Bayer and Hertha, we faced Bayern Munich at home. It was a close game until Hummels headed in the first goal after a corner. The game ended 3:1.

After a win against Borussia Mönchengladbach we were finally top of the table. Meanwhile Bayern are really struggling. Next up: Champions-league football!

btw Haaland is unstoppable in this game. Absolute robot! He scored all three goals against BMG..

The #BVB U19 team is immense. The frontline of Bynoe-Gittens (9G, 13A), Moukoko (14G, 4A) and Knauff (10G, 3A) is far to good for the league, not to forget other players like Bamba, Lütke-Frie, Collins or Semic. In #FM20 they are just destroying opponents. Just look at this game.

The team is currently top at the league with 10 wins and 1 tie. They won all games in the UEFA Youth League and in the cup as well. It is a great time to be a #BVB fan and a BVB- #FM20 manager as well.

[ #FM20-Update]
While we are dominating the league, we struggled a little bit in the CL group stage. The last game of the group stage was a thriller! We played Arsenal at home and had plenty of goal scoring opportunities, but in the end we couldn't capitalize. #BVB

The fact that we gave our younger players playing time and featured a heavy rotation certainly played a role here. But after all we are still unbeaten for the season and qualified for the round of 16.

However: In order to beat Manchester City we have to improve. heja #BVB

I am also still not sure which formation is best. We have seen the 4-1-2-3 a lot and in some games the 3-4-2-1 was useful to counter a high press. However, in recent games #BVB has lined up in a 4-2-3-1, which looks very Favre'esque. With the ball it resembles the 4-1-2-3 shape.

Finally we played the Derby! Schalke scored the first goal in the game and we had a hard time to come back. After a very loud an aggressive halftime talk, we managed to equalize in the 52th minute (Akanji) and score the winning goal in the 89th minute (Haaland). #BVB

The unbeaten run ended against Leipzig. We played a terrible game and lacked all energy. Favre also didn't manage to get the guys going for the next game against Frankfurt which ended in a draw.

Nevertheless: We are 'Herbstmeister'! Surely we won't botch a 8 point lead! #BVB

The winter transfer window didn't feature big changes. Dahoud (Bayer Leverkusen), Wolf (Hertha BSC) and Pherai (FC Twente) left the club, because they weren't getting the playing time they wanted. Raschl is also slightly unhappy. He was promised more gametime soon. #BVB

After a good performance in the winter trainingscamp we also decided to call up three of our youth players. Youssoufa Moukoko, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Nnamdi Collins joined the senior squad. #BVB
