This article triggers so many trains of thought I don’t know where to start! So; a quick thread.

Firstly the machinery price inflation we can all see is scary; are farmers starting to defer kit replacement and live off the depreciation? This does not end well if so. 1/5
Secondly I find the habit of fictional list prices and automatic massive customer discounts exceptionally irritating. It’ll never happen but I’d love to see legislation to fix prices to actual (for all) instead of attempting to make huge cost outlays look in some way attractive.
Thirdly; contrary to the myth that farmers have used BPS for range rovers, hols. and school fees actually most has been reinvested back into the economy via farm kit. Manufacturers aren’t half going to know it when BPS has all dried up.
Fourthly good luck to starry eyed new entrants hoping to get into arable farming. A combine is one of many bits of kit you’ll need to grow arable crops commercially. Whether hiring or buying, new or secondhand the kit you’ll need is sooo expensive! 🤩
Finally; what year do you think we’ll see the first combine with a million pound price tag? I’ll bet it won’t be long and what combinable area will such a machine need to cover per season to justify such a cost? 5/5
