I saw a post several days ago stating that the China Government does not condone competition in the Mainland and that no foreign companies or services can thrive there. This paints a bleak picture of China, devoid of any life or foreign influences or entities.

But...
The old me would have believed this but to see for myself what is exactly in China was the best decision I have made.

Starbucks Reserve Shanghai. American services raking in the money and exporting its profits back to the USA. Starbucks is all over the city.
Huge sporting stores like Adidas, Under Armour and this huge three-level stand-alone Nike store.
Under Armour store in Hangzhou
Not to mention the multitude of foreign five-star hotels all over China which generates a tidy sum of profits that are usually repatriated back to USA.

And designer brands.....
Tesla, high-end American cafes & fast food chains...
And not forgetting the current craze, Lululemon of Canada.
And the grand daddy of the all, attracting some 11 million visitors a year since its opening three years ago. Shanghai Disneyland.
So the picture painted by a lot of anti-China and China watchers are somehow incomplete or a totally, positively misinformation to deceive the world, which has somewhat been successful.
But, folks, THIS is the true China not the one most have been led to believe. And the truth is despite the claims of a trade imbalances, the US is the BIGGEST beneficiary of a services imbalance (surplus) of which they do not mention at all.
Silly me. How could I have forgotten Apple. The $2 Trillion company. It is one of the coolest architecture I've seen. One of the coolest store I've been to. This was in Pudong.
