How are others dealing w/ the dilemma of giving similar talks at online conferences?

Like, why make ppl watch a crappy live talk if they could watch a better video I already have? I& #39;m not gonna re-record. But where& #39;s the value in a conf that just streams YT videos? (thread)

For example, at a real life conf, I might do this talk again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpkzK58lkmA
But">https://www.youtube.com/watch... I already have a good, professionally recorded version of it. There& #39;s no real value in making people watch a worse version of it "live" when they could just watch the other video instead.

I put a lot of work into my talks & writing a new talk takes time. If I have the choice between submitting it to an arbitrary online conference or uploading it to YouTube where everyone can watch it, I& #39;ll always choose YT. That& #39;s not a conf& #39;s fault – it& #39;s just the best trade-off.
I don& #39;t have a good answer for this

It& #39;s clear that there& #39;s a lot of value in a real life confs that most online versions don& #39;t capture – and a lot of value in online content, which can be async (!) & is more accessible.
