How Penabur (and Indonesia in General)'s education/teaching system is extremely pressuring on students with Autism, ADHD, and other types of neurodivergence; a thread. #shameonyoupenabur

When I was in middleschool/elementary, I had always wanted to get into Penabur. Their public image seemed so accepting and fun. They looked like a good school with good teachers where I could also learn and have fun. They had a good reputation.

However, when I got accepted, I realized that it wasn't the case. There were only about 3 good teachers, out of SIXTEEN SUBJECTS. That was a problem too, I thought once I got into Highschool I would get fewer subjects because I could choose subjects. NOPE

As a kid with ADHD, the quality and ways a teacher teaches is extremely important in terms of my education. If a teacher is boring, I WILL NOT be able to pay attention, no matter how hard I try. Even in the lessons of the good teachers, I wld still zone out.

This, accompanied with the extremely ridiculous amount of tests, homework, projects, and excul I had to do absolutely burned me out. I managed to pass grade 10 with decent grades, but I felt so exhausted that I had to skip school once bcs i was so tired.

The teachers will say "just be honest, one grade doesn't matter compared with the sin of cheating" well what about all of my grades? What if I miss everything the teacher just said bcs i was hyperfocusing? What if I forget there was a test/HW that day?

This doesn't really just apply to people with ADHD, but i know a lot of neurotypicals will also struggle with the workload of Penabur. There is also the issue where they refuse to acknowledge any type of bullying against the autistic/nd people AT ALL

I have seen seminars about anti bullying, but they never talk about why they bully others. Do you think people just get bullied for no reason? NO they get bullied because theyre different. A feminine male will get bullied, an autistic kid will get bullied,etc

Now that it's online, Penaburs entire online school system has destroyed me, a student with ADHD who cannot concentrate or manage ANYTHING on my own. I have resorted to just cheating or copying from my friends because it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to DO ANYTHING

Neurotypicals might be able to focus sometimes or even understand the material, but I KNOW that 2 minutes after i sit down and tell myself "Im going to study and pay attention today! im going to work hard!" I will already be distracted by anything.

And this is just my experience. I havent even talked about how hard it is for other people with even worse conditions such as Autism or dyscalculia. Its fucking hell for us Penabur, please fix it. Dont just do one thing and then forget it ever happened

I want to see you replacing incompetent teachers, getting rid of useless subjects that are just a burden, hunting down people that bully others and call them freaks because of their neurodivergence. I want to see change, until then, #shameonyoupenabur

another thing I want to add; dont say things like "gw jg g pernah perhatiin wkwk" bcs thats YOUR CHOICE some people with adhd/others are actually trying their best to understand but they can never do it. Its not our choice.

having ADHD doesnt just create "one bad grade" it affects your entire academic career. Its not one day where you just "dont feel like paying attention" its everyday, trying to focus only to get distracted over and over again.
