Thread
1/x Social media companies run alot of ads these days.
2/X It’s almost like we are the product, not the consumer.
3/X It pretty much sucks.
4/X People who assume a sense of normalcy on these platforms are doing a disservice by not acknowledging the subtle and not-so-subtle ways we are being manipulated by them.
5/X Did you think I had some grand conclusion?
Twitter threads are fucking dumb. 6/X
Especially when authors put “number/X”, showing they clearly didn’t think through what they were going to put in their thread. 7/X
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but myspace walls were a more effective means of communication than twitter threads. 8/X
So yeah, thanks for coming to my Ted talk. 10/X
Gonna make this thread a little longer just to show how serious and important this topic is. 11/x
And well-researched. 12/X
Should the “number/x” go at the beginning or end of the tweet? ccing someone who writes for @TheAtlantic 13/X
Gonna go with end for now. It looks more aesthetically-pleasing. Correct me if I’m wrong @TheAtlantic 14/X
Gonna continuing adding onto this thread as more thoughts occur to me. Or the next time I’m bored and insomniac at 4am. 15/X
Gonna buzz @TheAtlantic one more time for good measure. Go read their magazine. The writers are all very well-educated and have exceedingly sensible views. 16/X
Good night. 17/X
