I’ve tried to handle my calls with this mindset because I refuse to be at war with my neighbors: if you didn’t have a badge & a gun, how would you handle this call?

Cuz if you go into it relying on that badge or gun, then you are most likely gonna use one or both

It might be a means to a goal but it better not be your goal as a cop. We don’t have to be this way.
