As another black man has been shot by police, I’m reminded of how Julian Castro was talking about police reform a year before George Floyd was killed by cops. Not only was he excluded from a DNC speaking slot but high-profile journalists waved it away as a non-issue.
It’s something I’ve thought about the last week, it says something about what is viewed as political leadership, & who gets to decide something is a non-issue. Anyway, I wrote about how Castro elevated police reform before it was a top 2020 issue more here https://www.newsweek.com/julian-castro-saw-americas-police-reform-moment-coming-before-he-dropped-out-2020-race-1515708?amp=1">https://www.newsweek.com/julian-ca...
Anyway, what happened to Jacob Blake is a quintessential American tragedy in a year full of them. Prayers for him and his family, and may he find the justice that eludes so many. https://twitter.com/rgay/status/1297758655312326658?s=21">https://twitter.com/rgay/stat... https://twitter.com/rgay/status/1297758655312326658">https://twitter.com/rgay/stat...
