the best way to handle your child& #39;s coming out ISN& #39;T to be all "okay so what?" over it, it dismisses how they feel and how important it is to them. going "don& #39;t make it your whole personality" is literally just homophobia and basically is saying "don& #39;t be proud"
thanking them for trusting you shows that you know how important and serious it is. telling them that you love them and that they can always turn to you for help and comfort is how you form a proper healthy parent-child relationship with them.
so many people in this thread I can tell don& #39;t/wouldn& #39;t have a good relationship with their kid, and their kid would hide a lot of things about themselves
