It all began on October 13, 2009, when Katy started writing/recording songs for 2nd studio album. The wait was hard, for almost 6 months we didn’t know anything about it. #TeenageDream10

That was all we knew, till May 7 2010, when the iconic California Gurls leaked. The song was officially released to radios and digitally on May 11

It garnered positive reviews from music critics, labeling it a “summer anthem”, as well as complimenting its production and chorus.

The song debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Hot 100, and after 4 weeks, it reached the top, becoming Katy’s second single to do so after her debut smash, “I Kissed A Girl”, and it reached number one in over 10 countries, including Australia, Canada and the UK

California Gurls remained at top for 6-consecutive weeks, and was later crowned as Song Of The Summer of All Time and 2010 Best Selling Song of The Year.

The song received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals and it's certified 8x Platinum in the US.

The music video had a teaser revealed during the 2010 MTV Movie Awards and was later premiered on June 15, 2010, starting with the famous candy theme we all love and the coloured wigs. It has received over 500 million views. #TeenageDream10

The official iconic album cover for TEENAGE DREAM, which shows Perry lying naked on clouds of cotton candy, was painted on canvas by Will Cotton and released on July 21 via live webstream. #TeenageDream10

2 days after, the title track was available for digital purchase

It has topped the Hot 100, becoming Katy’s 3rd #1 single, and her 2nd consecutive one after CG. TD has been certified 8x platinum in the US, as well as receiving multi-platinum certifications in other countries.

It has sold over 12 million copies in the US alone, making it the most selled female song on US history. The song is the third consecutive number-one single of the same album. Firework was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 54th Grammy Awards

A music video was released on October 28. It portrayed Katy singing and dancing around Budapest, with intercalating scenes of outcast teenagers become confident in themselves. The video has received over 1.2B views. It also won the "Video Of The Year" award at the 2011 VMAs

Back on June 2010, another song leaked with CG and would later become the 4th single and the 4th #1 of the album: E.T.

A music video was filmed at the US Marine Corps' Camp Pendleton in Oceanside. It garnered generally positive reviews for Katy’s “Girl Power” message. It has received over 800 million views

On March 7 2012 Katy announced via Twitter that she and Paramount Pictures would release a documentary film entitled Part of Me in the summer

A music video, directed by Tony T. Datis, was released on June 18, 2012. The trailer features a fairy tale-plot, where a young girl looks through a story book that features the previous single as eight chapters, and Wide Awake is the final chapter of it #TeenageDream10

The California Dreams Tour was the tour in support of the album. Beginning February 2011, the tour visited Europe, Australasia, Asia and the Americas, earning over $59.5M. It won an award for Favorite Tour Headliner at the People’s Choice Awards, and it had an 98% attendance rate
