“We support whatever HE says and we hate whatever THEY say.”

And I know people bristle at extreme words like *fascism*, but it’s actually true. I taught Econ last semester, and fascism is a country with an authoritarian government and extreme free market principles.
The president has been in a de facto authoritarian rule for a few decades now - when was the last time Congress *really* did anything to actually use the checks and balances on executive power?
And the economic part of fascism is the 45 admin’s other specialty - stripping government regulation on industry to allow for pure, unadulterated, free-flowing market capitalism. See: LeJoy, Louis; Myers, Barry for ex: of industry dismantling government.
In the textbook, the only examples of fascist states are 1920s-40s Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and civil war Spain. Not exactly role models for the contemporary nation-state.
Yes, Mussolini made the trains run on time. But he also brutally fought to maintain power by cultivating a cult of personality around his stature as a leader, while restructuring his govt. to create a modern corporatized economy where big corporations have oversized power. Hmm...
If those fascist countries are case studies for modern America - what’s next? Each fascist dictator ruled democratically, and more or less didn’t leave office ever. That’s a worry for November 2020.
Fascist dictatorships have free reign over law enforcement to detain and harass political enemies. Today, that looks like federal troops attacking citizens in Portland. That looks like ICE Detention Camps, unnecessary cruelty to “others” to further political agendas.
I’m worried about Trump’s personal MAGA army - they are the ones with the guns after all.

I’m worried about the Democrats being too institutionalist to enforce their own rules.

I’m worried that law enforcement and military will choose the leader over the state if it comes to it
But the reality is - capitalism is broken. The historical pendulum has swung away. It was a great run, but it’s time to move forward.

Corporations need to be broken up and limited in political power. The inmates can’t be running the asylum, so why does corporate lobbying exist?
Human socialism, Universal Basic Income, policies treating every person as a human who works and not a worker who has a life, will lead to happy comfortable lives for all citizens. Those people don’t create the situations required for a dictatorial strongman to take power.
TLDR: America is a fascist country characterized by the strong, authoritarian leader and the aggressively decentralized and free market capitalism. US has been trending this way for decades and in November, we might reap what’s been sown.
And the last two thoughts:

1) Fuck the Bruins, they beat another blue & white team tonight.

2) Just because it’s rigged, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t participate. Vote *and* fight for institutional change - it’s not a zero sum proposition like some progressives say.
