So many current events are challenging ideas/morals that were ingrained in me since I could talk and I gotta be honest y’all I’m struggling. (Thread. Read before ripping me a new one)
1. Support and trust the police—I mean this speaks for itself. I believe still a majority of officers are good who do their jobs well but the system itself is clearly broken. I don’t understand how you can’t draw that conclusion.
2. Always always look for or at least try to understand the other side to an argument. I’m still a believer in waiting for facts to come out before forming an opinion but this is now frowned upon it seems in our “hot take society.” Basically if you don’t have an opinion instantly
....your opinion is insincere. I’m not taking specifically about officer involved shootings here, but a lot of times we see a five second clip (of an event, a speech, etc) and we jump to a conclusion without valuable context. Sometimes we need to slow down a little bit and think.
^^^the above has nothing to do with the situation in Kenosha but tonight’s events once again force me to reflect on my own views. I’m doing this in the name of transparency and helping others understand why I am the way I am.
So call me a “closet racist” as one has in my DMs or call me insincere or wishy washy or a drama queen. I just needed to get this out there. If I’m an asshole to you, then I guess I’m an asshole. But this is who I am and why I am. End thread and rant
