I'll try to make the case on why the IFP is an upgrade that the entire #BitcoinCash community should support including those who don't support ABC. See the thread below.
Most people agree that #BCH infrastructure development and maintenance need to be funded but there is a disagreement on:
1) where the funding should come from
2) how much funding is needed
3) who should receive the funding
1) We want funding to come from an independent source. Neither corporate funding nor donations can guarantee neutrality. Allocation of a % of the value self-generated by the system is the best independent source of funding -> coinbase needs to fund infrastructure
2) We want an efficient economic distribution of the funding. Overfunding should be called out. -> There should be a continued and transparent communications on how the funding is being used.
3) Whoever receives the funding should be accountable for it. No one should be able to confiscate the funding. -> There should be mechanisms to prevent rent-seeking behaviors.
Implementing the IFP in November will allow Bitcoin Cash to secure a funding mechanism that is independent of external influences. ABC would be the first entity to receive this funding and as such, they will be responsible to transparently communicate how the funding is used.
Passing the IFP will create a funding market for competing teams to campaign for. ABC will always be under the pressure of competitors trying to capture this funding market by selling a higher value proposition. Every misstep from ABC will open the door to the competition.
Bottom line, even if you don't like ABC. The IFP would create a healthy funding mechanism that has the potential to attract more talents to the ecosystem especially if ABC doesn't deliver or misuse the funds.
A smart move from ABC opponents would be to price themselves on this market. Currently, BCHN prices themselves at $0 but that could be at the cost of being independent.
