You know, when you really think about it, Fanny Dashwood is bad, but we don’t talk nearly enough about how bad John Dashwood is.
Also, all of the men in Sense and Sensibility were himbos. Like, all of them. Including Colonel Brandon
John Dashwood grew up to be Sir Walter Elliot.
I used to read him as being a victim of Fanny’s schemes, but I think that’s because the movie makes him seem a lot more sympathetic and that was my first encounter. The more I think about the novel, the more I realize how bad he is!
HE WAS AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN HER SCHEMES
I actually think Sense and Sensibility had the worst men, lmfaooo.
Listen, I know some of y’all think it’s Fanny, but Jane Austen called him a selfish snake, so I’mma listen to her:
Mrs. Dashwood is...40 at the start of Sense and Sensibility. BRUHHHH.
