Another semester, another $500 in books of which only ONE is by an Indigenous writer. Why are we using these outsider, white academic books about people instead of uhhhhh their own stories?
Two of these classes are taught by someone from Outside and it shows. Nary a Native in his reading selections, and didn't choose the Lydia T. Black book I expected we'd read since it's like...Lydia.
Lydia wasn't Native but she taught in this department for decades and like...she worked with the Dauenhauers and I trust Nora Dauenhauer so she has clout with me.
