I just wanna go back in time and do a shift at an asylum to see the difference in treatments back then compared to now
I obviously know they were very barbaric (the treatments and the staff too)
there were many aspects of asylums that were vastly inhumane, however, there were also some aspects, such as working onsite for money (most likely next to nothing) that allowed people to remain skilled in certain aspects of life
I’m definitely not saying I’m all for asylums (deffo not) but the same way patients became institutionalised back then, they become extremely deskilled in today’s day and age, especially after a four month stint at a psych ward
