So uh growing up in the south in the 90s was an interesting time when I was growing up PokĂ©mon was just becoming popular in the states and growing up in the church you might see where this is going. My parents didnât mind what I did and being born autistic there wasnât a lot
That I could really get into when I was younger and it was either Star Wars or Pokémon and since I just started kindergarten Pokémon had just started gaining traction in the states and me and brother were given a gameboy color with red and blue respectively and thus my love
For the adorable Pokémans and charmander began. After a few months of working my way through red and catching every Pokémon I could find the Christian churches around my town of moody/Leeds were getting visited by an evangelist telling everyone that pocket monsters were of the
Devil and that they would posses us to do work for the devil and a lot of parents didnât allow their kids to play the games watch the show play with the cards and that was my parents for a time but they realized what it did for me as it helped me become more sociable
And talkative to others so they let me continue to play it despite this evangelist saying over the course of several Sundays just how âbadâ it was that it would corrupt us for the devil lol. He also had a son who was such a little asshole who thought he was better then everyone
And thought since he was a guest in our church he could say what he wanted to and just be a dick. My parents wanted what was best for me and they thought Pokémon could help me out with interacting with kids. The south has always had those kind of things like with Harry Potter
A few years later which my parents again didnât care because they knew it wouldnât do anything to me. And because of these fandoms of PokĂ©mon and also Harry Potter Iâve come to meet and have friends with the same appreciation as me and even more so my wife and I
Have connected through PokĂ©mon and have fond memories of PokĂ©mon watching the anime and playing the games and at no point did I become possessed or start to speak in tongues or try to summon baphomet or sacrifice goats Iâve played the game watch the shows for 20 years & had
Nothing but amazing memories from it. Moral of the story I guess is let your kids enjoy their childhood while they still can because you could be like that asshole preachers son in a suit thatâs way to big for you with no childhood. I hope you enjoyed this thread have a good time
