Turkey
reports 1217 new cases in the last 24 hours.
A decrease from yesterday where 1309 cases were reported.
However, as explored later, less testing today due to a smaller capacity on weekends.
Nevertheless, in a good position for the UK
quarantine review!

My thread

On August 14th, Grant Shapps mentioned any nation surpassing 20 cases per 100,000 people over 7-days cumulatively would spark concern for the UK government

Including today’s cases, Turkey’s
7-day case rate per 100,000 people is 10.9.
There has been no change in this figure from yesterday...
... and it’s still far-below the UK government
threshold of 20.

However, it’s important to note there was a decline in tests performed.
In the last 24 hours, 80,302 tests were performed.
This is because, like other nations, Turkey
operates a smaller testing capacity on the weekend.

This means it’s likely we’ll see an increase in cases next week (as we did last week) as testing returns to full capacity.
Like I’ve said in previous threads, I would think Turkey’s
number of cases could hover around 1,600 if the target of 100,000 tests a day is achieved.

Again, this isn’t a problem.
Should we see an average of 1600 cases a day due to increased testing, Turkey’s
7-day rate will be around 13.7.
This will still be significantly lower than other nations, and most important of all, below the UK government
threshold.

As of current, things are looking good for Turkey
in the upcoming UK quarantine
list review.
There hasn’t been too much volatility in the number of daily cases (staying around 1200-1400), and subsequently, there hasn’t been much movement in the 7-day case rate.

Providing this trend keeps up, Turkey
will continue to be in a good position...
… and it *shouldn’t* be added to the UK
quarantine list.

Of course, things can change quickly.
By Tuesday, we’ll have a better idea of what *could* happen in the next review as we’ll have more data to identify trends.
But as aforementioned, things are looking good!
More to come as the situation develops.
Thanks!
