I finally heard back from the number associated with the “asu_covid.parties” account that was sued by ASU. Full convo below, via text after midnight AZ time. Background: https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-education/2020/08/21/instagram-removes-account-claiming-host-large-asu-parties-after-lawsuit/3414249001/
A fitting end.
Also there were similarly named accounts like the ASU one in multiple cities and college campuses, not sure if they got deleted by Instagram too. This just popped up today tho. Check the number that pops up when you press “call.”
Also this account does seem intended to create outrage, not actually host parties. The claims they make of party locations and legality are bizarre, to say the least. But there have been other parties in Tempe since students came back, not tied to this account.
I’m really hoping to talk to actual ASU students about actual things happening on campus tho, so hit me up. https://twitter.com/rachelleingang/status/1297588340934340609?s=21 https://twitter.com/rachelleingang/status/1297588340934340609
To be clear, I don’t know that all of this is “proof” of anything. There are multiple possible explanations. The only thing that’s clear is I spend too much time online, even on the weekends.
