COVID-19 cases might be rising across much of the UK, but the latest all-cause mortality data (albeit from several weeks ago) still looks very normal for England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
However, in England & Wales at least, there are still a small number of COVID-19 deaths being registered each week (152 in the week ending 7th August).
Also, while the location of deaths form all causes has stabilised in recent months, this stability reflects greater levels of mortality at home and fewer deaths in hospital settings.
Sadly @NatRecordsScot have decided to stop publishing detailed mortality data. While I'm sure they have a lot of other very important things to be doing, this is still a shame as
a) things are not back to 'normal'
b) they were publishing some nice extra data compared to the ONS.
Anyway, I guess all I can do is thank the fine folk at NRS for all of their outstanding work in making this data so accessible so quickly and hope that they don't have cause to start republishing it.
