It’s been like 24 hours of being high on pure indica and I still can’t figure out what a “pick me for gay men” is.

What is that? What are its observable features? How does it function in the world? Wha—?

If a ‘pick me’ is a woman that makes ‘patriarchal bargains’ (H/T @UjuAnya) for personal mobility at the expense of other women...how do (overwhelmingly closeted) gay men constitute a viable party to negotiate such bargains under patriarchy?

What does a pick me get from gay men and why is she seeking it from men who do not desire her, who are excluded from patriarchal power except through extreme self-erasure, and who can therefore confer no privileges whatsoever unless they pretend to be cishet men?

Coining and tweaking language and theorising new concepts is all well and good...as long as that shit actually has any bearing on observable or predictable social behaviour. Y’all.
