The country's northeastern region borders #LakeChad, which provides a water source 20 to 30 million people across Nigeria, Niger, Chad & Cameroon. Since the 1960s, it has shrunk by 90% as a result of climate change & over-extraction.
Some reports have suggested that increase in extreme heat, drought & the shrinking of #LakeChad could be one contributing factor to violence in northeastern Nigeria, which has forced thousands to seek safety in neighboring Chad.
