1. Baptists were instrumental in the establishment of religious freedom in America. Baptist Tradition has championed the principle of “Soul Freedom”.

“Soul Freedom” is the belief that faith is so sacred that no one has the right to coerce another into believing in Christ.
2. “Soul Freedom” not only guides Baptist ecclesiology but it also is one of the reasons why Baptists believe that people must make a conscientious decision to accept Christ rather than being baptized by their parents before they can operate on their own volition.
3. The principle of “Soul Freedom” is also why Baptists have defended the religious liberty of non-Christians. In video below, @drmoore does an excellent job of defending the this principle against someone who doesn’t grasp their own historical tradition.
4. MacArthur’s argument that Biden’s willingness to hire Muslims and other non-Christians should lead Christians to support GOP is wrong for many reasons, chief among them is it demonstrates MacArthur is more devoted to a Fundamentalist “culture war” than to being a Baptist.
5. ‘Soul Freedom’ says, “we cannot try & coerce anyone into faith.” Withholding secular jobs from a faith group is a form of coercion.

The ‘culture war’ says, “We advance Christianity thru obtaining social power & asserting it against society in order to bend it towards Christ.”
6. Christians who truly believe the power of the Gospel do NOT feel the need to coerce anyone into faith. Christians who truly believe that Faith is the fruit of regeneration do NOT seek to coerce faith. The “culture war” pursuit of fundamentalist is the fruit of an anemic faith.
