I keep getting vile messages calling me a warmonger and all sorts of silly threats. I am not a war monger but a realist. My analysis are based on factual evidence and cannot be swayed by sentiments from either camp. You dont like it? Unfollow.

Now lets cut to the chase.
During the undiplomatic but highly effective propaganda campaigne against Nigeria earlier this year the Nigerian government was stunned when, after lying Chadian troops were occupying Nigerian territory, Idris Derby requested the Israeli Air Force carry out a comprehensive
mapping of all of the entirety of the Lake Chad Basin, including but artificial and manmade rifts. Those manmade structures fall inside Nigerian administered islands. The Nigerian government responded by sending a detachment of Nigerian army amphibious battalion to man
those islands. Next thing Idris Derby did was to hold a press conference publicly accusing the Nigerian army of not doing enough and called on Nigeria to come occupy Nigerian territory liberated by Chadian forces so they could leave. This time the usually silent
Nigerian territory was forced to give a fierce rebuttal to Chadian claims of setting foot on Nigerian territory much less liberating and occupying them. It was later revealed that Chadian operations had been limited to islands in Chadian territory, meaning they aware
of Boko Harams presence in their territory for years and did nothing. A week later Nigeria receives a surprise consignment of sophisticated battle tanks, tank destroyers and wheeled self propelled artillery from China. The usually loquacious Idris Derby went silent.
Borno state Govenor Zullum was summoned by the President in a close door meeting to give account on the activities of Chadian forces in Borno. The next time anybody heard from him was when the Chadian Parliament abolished the death penalty for convicted terrorists.
About two weeks ago Chadian troops were spotted on Nigerian territory in the Lake Chad basin. Governor Zullum of Borno then had an emergency meeting with the CAS at the NAF HQ where he called on the Nigerian military to occupy the entirety of the Lake Chad Islands
Here is Govenor Zullums realising the threats posed by Chad and called on the Nigerian military to occupy the whole of the Lake Chad islands.
Now here's the crux of the problem. Many Nigerians may ne unaware that a decade ago Chad was an oil rich nation. We probably had no idea because there was nothing to show for show for it. Chads oil wealth was spent on building the military and bribing military generals
to keep the military loyal. Indeed Idris Derby boasted that with Chads recent military acquisition no country in Africa besides Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa could stand u to the Chadian army. He announced his cousin was in Ukraine to acquire MiG-29 fighter jets
Chads limited oil reserve has run dry. The oil crash has made the economic situation of Chad worse. But right in front of Chad is the hydro carbon rich islands of Nigerian administered Lake Chad not yet explored by the Nigerian government....for obvious reason.
Nigeria has the worlds 10th largest proven oil resevres. Nigeria's oil reserve is so vast the hydrocarbon rich Lake Chad islands have been left unexplored, kept as strategic reserve while oil is continually pumped from the Niger Delta to the tune of $100 million a day.
Chad hopes that a destabilized Nigeria mirred in internal strife, rich in oil wealth will not find defending the Lake Chad islands worth it. Surprisingly for him however despite the strife every covert move on Lake Chad has drew a sharp response from Nigeria.
Without oil proceeds to satiate the palms of his generals Derbys holds on power is standing on shaky grounds. The border closure has made Chads economic misfortune even worse. Derbys propaganda has run its course. Nigeria is still standing.
The dream of Chad controlling the hydrocarbon rich lands remains. Why else would an aid of Chads president be caught with 22 SA-7 surface to air missiles he was asked to deliver to Boko Haram until caught by Nigerian border guards. Why else will he engineer a FAKE ceasefire deal
to stall a Nigerian military final offensive and buy Boko Haram time to lick its wounds and replenish its ranks? Why else will weapons continue to pout over Chads border into Nigeria like a faucet, taking advantage of the size and porosity of the border.?
More importantly, who gets to benefit from a destabilize or fragmented Nigeria?
Did Chad create Boko Haram? Absolutely not. Corruption and extreme poverty and neglect of the north created Boko Haram. However who is responsible for Boko Harams decade long longevity? Who saw the Boko Haram insurgency as a target of opportunity? I leave you to fill the blanks.
