The @ASWB & @nasw need to look at the implementation of a compact license or the promotion of interoperability across jurisdictions. Leaving licensing up to the state is antiquated & causes additional barriers for professionals. #socialwork #clinical #mentalhealth
A seasoned social worker that is independently licensed for “x” amount of years should not experience barriers with obtaining additional licensing in alternate jurisdictions.
Travel SW’s in Case Mgmt and Therapeutic positions should have the opportunity to practice freely while maintaining necessary requirements just like our RN colleagues. Time to end the barriers that impacts healthcare!
I constantly see Travel ED/hospital positions for SW’s but guess what the caveat is the requirement to be licensed in said jurisdiction. This is a huge barrier that impacts talent and delivery of services.
I love being a SW but this is another example of how Nursing has additional support and resources in healthcare. What about Social Workers? What are you going to do for us @nasw @ASWB? As we respond to the pandemic in the ED, providing telehealth, crisis response.
I’m hearing countless stories from SW’s across the country that are experiencing headaches from state licensing boards. These individuals have been independently licensed for 10+ yrs or licensed at the Masters-level. #endtheredtape
