i& #39;ve been doing a KH2 critical run the past month or so and am currently in the final stretch and I have Thoughts™ on several things
KH2 is still so much fun and really holds up well even to today& #39;s standards but please Nomura don& #39;t make me stand still like a statue while casting magic I get that it& #39;s supposed to be special and only for forms but it interrupts the battle flow so much holy shit
I doesn& #39;t even have to be normal movement, it can just be slowed down glide of sorts à la KH3, I just find that actually having to stay where you are while casting just really takes the steam out of the battle and will result in you getting punished unless it& #39;s like... Magnet.
As a result, magic may seem like a much less viable battle option aside from Magnet/Cure to new players and that is definitely not how things should be. But this is not the only instance of this trend of the player& #39;s perception of the game not lining up with what it really is.
Similarly, forms will end up being ignored due to the lack of a proper tutorial regarding them and be shoved to the pile of "other features" that the casual/new player will never once even look at precisely because they are underexplained or misrepresented.
I commend the game for giving you so many options to use in battle but I find the actual explanation and presentation of these options oftentimes ranging from questionable to straight-up nonexistent. Who will make use of something they don& #39;t understand?
But I& #39;m digressing immensely from the actual purpose of this thread which was to compile a random list of thoughts on several subjects and not just That One Flaw which I& #39;ve been rattling on about for the past year
I still like the org boss design! It& #39;s fun and challenging without being frustrating, though I could do without forced revenges which pretty much instantly pulverize you and force you to enter a heal-and-run cycle.
I think KH3 does somewhat of a better job in that regard? The boss moves away and just begins another attack phase or MAY hit you once with a low-dmg attack and then backs off again.
