I mean, yes, Orthodox Jews should absolutely be standing up for Muslims detained by ICE, but being forced to eat pork is, like, the tip of the iceberg? And actually no one should be detained by ICE at all?

I also have some real difficulty with this section because the major reason that my great-grandparents did not flee to Russia when they had the chance was because they were afraid that they would not be able to get kosher food, and as a result they were murdered by Nazis.

So this whole “KEEPING KOSHER IS OUR LIFEBLOOD” idea is really painful for me, given that keeping kosher literally led to my ancestors’ gruesome deaths.

That said if they had fled my grandfather’s first family wouldn’t have died and he wouldn’t have my my grandma so...
