i& #39;m going to provide a spoiler for the big White House revelation tonight of a drug for covid-19
It& #39;s Regeneron& #39;s antibody cocktail
(if I am wrong, which is def. possible, i will update. but imo only drug out there able to have strong enough results for early results) https://twitter.com/antonioregalado/status/1297566176151777287">https://twitter.com/antoniore...

In April we explained why the approach of capturing antibodies from survivors (people or mice)--- then making more of them in biotech factories --- was quickest path to custom designed covid-19 drug https://www.technologyreview.com/2020/04/10/998897/the-race-to-make-a-covid-19-drug-from-the-blood-of-survivors/">https://www.technologyreview.com/2020/04/1...
The problem with antibodies is they are quite expensive to make . So the SUPPLY of this drug will be a question.
$REGN put out some information about supply agreements with Roche last week. https://investor.regeneron.com/news-releases/news-release-details/regeneron-and-roche-collaborate-significantly-increase-global">https://investor.regeneron.com/news-rele...

If the white house announcement isnt about Regeneron, it could be about
--another manufactured anti-covid antibody
--results from "convalescent serum" studies, which is also antibodies, just via serum from survivors
--nasal spray form of Gilead& #39;s remdesivir

key question is what announcement can occur like this an still be within paramaters of "normal" @US_FDA criteia
remdesivir re-do would involve new formulation of an already approved drug, so a "gimme" for FDA
convalescent serum---already in use, so also an FDA gimme

but the white house used the term "breakthrough" which IMO would apply best to manufactured antibodies.
This tweet sums up the reason for my guess --- there is reason to think Regeneron& #39;s drug will work best.
BUT many point out that the Regeneron trial(s) may be too early to have real results.
So it& #39;s anyone& #39;s guess what the heck WH has planned. https://twitter.com/Biomaven/status/1297572720331423746">https://twitter.com/Biomaven/...

in this thread, @erictopol figures the word "breakthrough" it what& #39;s being misused, thereby opening up the possibilities to all non breakthroughs as well. https://twitter.com/EricTopol/status/1297583093285494785">https://twitter.com/EricTopol...
